The man behind the creation of the Eiffel Tower: Gustave Eiffel (born Alexandre-Gustave Eiffel) was born on December 15, 1832 in Dijon, France. He was a successful engineer working on many projects around France but is most known for the Eiffel Tower (la Tour Eiffel in French). He also helped design the Statue of Liberty.
The Eiffel Tower was built in two years and built for the International Exposition in 1889. It was the world’s tallest structure at 984 feet.
